Episcopal Social Services - New York City Executive Director: September, 1986 - January, 2005
Trinity Parish - Southport, Connecticut Rector: August, 1982 - August, 1988
NYS Department of Correctional Services - Prisoner-Family Program Director: April, 1981 - July, 1982 Conceived
and developed program to facilitate reunions of inmates and spouses
following release. Wrote detailed cirriculum for workshops addressing
values, use of time, self-esteem, communication, budget, ses. Continues
to be used in many prisons.
NYS Commission of Correction - Gubernatorial appointment Chairman: August, 1976 - March, 1981 Chairman
of State agency responsible for monitoring of all State prisons, county
jails, and police lockups. Opened office in New York City at Governor's
direction. Established minimum standards for corrections practices.
Advised Governor on corrections policy. Trained corrections staff.
Promoted effective programs. Managed staff of 79.
Big Brothers, Inc. - New York City Executive Director: December, 1974 - July, 1976 Directed
agency comprising central office, five neighborhood offices, and
residence. Hired staff, directed fund-raising, developed new programs,
including Senior Big Brothers. Staff of 95.
Taconic Correctional Facility - NYS Department of Correction Superintendent: January, 1974 - December, 1974 Opened
new corrections facility in Bedford Hills, NY; responsible for
designing and implementing plan to receive long-term inmates from
upstate prisons; provided short-term counselling.
Manhattan Rehabilitation Center; NYS Narcotic Addiction Control Commission Director: July, 1968 - December, 1973 Overall
responsibility for treatment and rehabilitation of female drug addicts
in facility with 400 beds; 800 out-patients; 325 staff budget of $3.5
million.
Narcotic Addiction Control Commission - New York State Consultant: 1967 - 1968 Wrote
booklets on counseling in groups for staff and officers. Visited
different facility each day, conducted in-service training.
Reality House - (Co-founder) New York Administrator: 1966 Recruited Board of Directors; conducted prison program; designed vocational intern process.
Exodus House - New York Assistant Director: 1963 - 1965 Recruited
first Board of Directors; primarily responsible for public and private
funding. Conceived and developed prison programs and workshops.
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church - New York Priest Associate: 1962 - 1963 Helped found groups-for-living program; assisted in preaching and worship.
St. Augustine's Chapel - Trinity Parish Curate: 1958 - 1963 In
charge of youth programs, Spanish speaking congregation. Assistant
Minister, Grace Church, 1958 - 1960. Led Greenwich Village Bible Study.
